To Blog or Not to Blog?
Sep 17th
Whatever your motivation for starting a blog, setting it up the right way will save you time and money in the long run….
If you are not convinced just how much running a blog will benefit you, or your business, you might want to check out some posts on blogging on my Empower Network blog . Making money online is easy with a good blog these days.
Let’s assume for now, that you have understood all the benefits and reasons for having a blog and you are about ready to set up your blog. By the end of this post you will feel you know enough to decide which direction is right for you and which will benefit you the most.
Your next step now is to decide where you are going to blog and this will depend on a number of things.
The first thing to decide is, what is the purpose of your blog?
Is it to promote something – that could be a product, service, business or you – or is it just for you to journal online? Are you looking to blog for money online or purely for fun?
Do you want other people to find your blog (through searches for example), or is it just for you and people you give a link to?
These are key questions and will determine what kind of functionality your blog needs to have. Is it ok for it to be a simple page online or do you want it to have things like links, widgets and interactive features? Do you want to be able to capture people’s details when they visit your site? Do you need search engines like Google and Youtube to show it to people looking for something related and therefore need what’s known as Site Engine Optimisation or SEO?
Next there are two vital questions you must answer and it will be difficult to do without both so you’re going to need one or the other to some degree.
- Are you willing to invest money in your blog?
- Do you have lots of time to spend on your blog?
If you don’t want to spend any money at all on your blog, you can set up a free one quite easily. Sites like WordPress and Blogger for example will let you do this. The benefit of this, is that it’s free, the drawbacks are that you’ll need to invest quite a lot of time on it in order to get it to work well and for it to get found by people. If you are writing a blog that’s just for you and a few people who you can give the address to, this is a great option for you though.
If you have lots of time to spend on your blog, you can go down the free or paid routes and you’ll have lots of choice. The time will be spent learning how to set it up and give it good functionality. Again WordPress can be a good option here as it has lots of free widgets and themes so you can customise your blog once you’ve learnt how. There is tonnes of information available, lots of it free and even some of the free stuff is good
So time, patience and aptitude, but no cash, and you can still run a reasonably successful blog!
Once you’ve established how much time and money you have at your disposal, you might like to consider:
- Do you want to set up your own website or do you want a ready made system?
- Do you want to learn to do all the ‘behind the scenes’ stuff to get your blog in front of people or do you want a system that will do it all for you?
If you want to set up your own website, you’re back to the point before really and need to decide do you a) want to pay someone else to do it for you or b) do it yourself?
Remember to take into account hidden costs..
…like buying your domain name – that’s what your site will be called, for example, my book site is called The Self Help Bible and my domain name is www.theselfhelpbible.com. You can’t use a domain name that someone else owns and it will cost you an annual fee of about $10 for a standard .com website name. If it’s a highly sought after name, you could pay hundreds of dollars so you need to know what you’re doing! You’ll also need to pay someone to host the site for you. Again that’s not a huge cost, it can be around $10 per month.
Although this involves a cost, if you have the time to learn, it doesn’t need to be astronomical. WordPress again offers a blogging platform that has lots of free options and provided you know what you’re doing, you can create a fantastic self hosted WordPress blog. Other systems like Joomla offer a similar opportunity.
The last bit, relates to the really techy stuff and again you can go down the paid or free route and as before the free route will cost you in terms of time. A site which is not optimised (spot that techy term there
) will not get found by search engines and if you’re looking to make money blogging, you need to get found. There is no point whatsoever creating a blog that does not have good SEO because no-one will ever see it and if no-one see’s it, you will not make any money!
There are companies who specialise in SEO, but be prepared, they are pretty expensive and it’s not a one off cost. You’ll also want to think about social media, link building, advertising and marketing – all buyable services if you have lots of cash and learnable if you don’t.
This might all seem like a lot to think about, but really it all comes down to our two favourite currencies, time and money. If neither are an object then you’re laughing, as tends to be the case in life!
If however, now that you understand what’s involved in starting a blog, you’d like an easy solution that will cost a fraction of any comparable system, removing the costs for hosting, domain purchase, SEO and software; give you a ready made blogging platform that ranks very highly and gets millions of hits per day, a system for earning money even if you have nothing to promote (incidentally it pays 100% commission too!) and the power to get traffic to anywhere you choose to send it (eg to promote another website or business you might be involved in) then
Empower Network can give you that solution!
With fantastic training, you can learn as you go, without needing to know anything to start with. Complete internet newbies are finding success with this system and experienced marketers are finding even more!
All you need is the decision to start your blog today and something to write about.

Facebook Block Empower Network….
Aug 6th
It’s like a modern day David and Goliath!
If you’ve tried to look at or comment on Empower Network posts on Facebook this morning, you may have been surprised to find you can’t!
Why?
Because the Empower Network has grown so big so quickly that Facebook are running scared and have blocked the server and shut down the main group page!
Of course, there are ways around this and as always, it doesn’t take long to figure them out.
If you want to send people to your capture page from Facebook, simply create one on your own server and that will work fine!
I’m sure it won’t be long before Facebook realise that the Empower Network is out to help you change your life with it’s blog system and not to any devious ends and the ban will be lifted.
It’s not good business sense for Facebook – and Facebook is after all a business – and it’s not good sense for the people who are yet to be helped to change their lives and finally get the income they’ve always wanted by learning how to blog for money online.
Please share this post and help David beat Goliath! Let Facebook users decide if they want Empower Network for a better life and not have that life changing decision taken away from them!
Empower Network Review – 1 Month In
Aug 3rd
At the end of June, I decided to try something new. Something that I’d heard a lot of buzz about on the internet and something people I know seem to be making a lot of money from!
Now if you’re anything like me, you might be a bit “Oh yeah! the latest, greatest thing” and I would completely understand that. I’ve been working online for over two years now, and believe you me, I’ve seen a lot of those! I’ve listened to lots of self styled gurus, who really are no better off than you and I and have a lot less scruples!
So, I thought I’d give it a go, optimistically because it looked good – actually – it looked great! and, nobody was claiming to be a guru AND, it didn’t require me to pretend to be anything I’m not.
So, if you’d like to know how to blog for money online, then read on! This is a summary of my first months results with the Empower Network. If you’ve already heard about it and just want to know more or to get right in, click here for the fast track!
Here’s what I’ve found….
Doing a blog daily is challenging and fun!
I’ve found myself thinking a lot about what to write about, which in turn has made me be even more vigilant for the positive things in life. I refuse to write negative blogs, I do my best to remove negativity from my life so I’m certainly not going to blog about it! I haven’t missed a day yet and that’s given me a sense of satisfaction too. Bonus no 1!
The people in Empower Networkers are nice!
I do my best to surround myself, even in a virtual sense, by great people so that’s an unexpected bonus – it’s not that I didn’t expect them to be other than great, just that I hadn’t figured it in my reasons for joining Empower Network.
I like audio learning
I never expected that either! I know my best learning mode and it’s not auditory so I didn’t expect to enjoy the recommended daily audio sessions. I listen at times that would otherwise be unproductive and I’ve picked up some good tips and felt really motivated after listening to them too. Another bonus.
I’ve had loads of traffic!
Compared to my Self Help Bible blog, which I’ve put a lot of work into and have been using for over a year, I’ve had 73% more visits to this new Empower Network blog over the same period. Might be something to do with their Alexa ranking which is in the top 500 worldwide lol!
It’s been doubly effective in that I’ve seen a 71% increase in traffic month on month to my original blog and the second best source of referrals to my Self Help Bible blog has been my Empower Network daily blog!
Great results for a mere $25 investment I think you’d have to agree.
Less is sometimes more.
I’ve spent hundreds of hours working on the look of my other sites. Honestly, hundreds even if you think it doesn’t look like it!. I started from scratch on them and the fact that I don’t have to do that on my Empower Network blog has meant I have been able to use all my work time productively this month. That’s a massive bonus there and a big learn as clearly you don’t need bells and whistles, just a good system!
The Empower Network is believable.
I’ve tried lots of things in the two years or so I’ve been working online and only one or two have paid off. I really think that Empower Network may be the game changer. I know I’ll only get out what I put in so I need to keep up the blogging, but the support and training here are the best I’ve seen so far……….. and there’s air of BS either! Not a single hint of ‘fake it till you make it’. No’gurus’, no ‘wide boys’ which is a huge relief after some of the muppets I’ve met online!
All in all, I’m delighted with my first month 1 in Empower Network. I’ll post an update again next month and compare month on month results. And if you want to know how to blog for money online, it seems Empower Network may be the answer you’ve been looking for.
